Glanvilles Damant Supports the Isle of Wight Radio Toy Appeal 2024

  • Posted

Here at Glanvilles Damant, we take pride in giving back to our local community, especially during the festive season. Last Friday, members of our team visited Isle of Wight Radio to contribute to their 2024 Toy Appeal, hoping to bring a touch of joy to children and families in need across our Island.

We donated toys worth £270, joining many other local businesses and residents in supporting this wonderful initiative. The Toy Appeal, run annually by Isle of Wight Radio, aims to ensure that every child on the Island wakes up to a gift on Christmas morning, regardless of their circumstances.

What is the Isle of Wight Radio Toy Appeal?

The appeal, now in its 20th year, works in partnership with the Salvation Army to identify families who may be struggling during the holidays. Donated toys are distributed to those who might otherwise go without, spreading smiles and hope during a challenging time for many.

The appeal supports up to 3,000 children each year, thanks in part to the backing of sponsors like Red Funnel.

Over the past decade, the campaign has brought joy to countless families, with an incredible 37,000 gifts donated by the generosity of Islanders.

The children who benefit from this initiative include young carers, those in hospital or unwell, bereaved children, and those facing challenges such as poverty or housing difficulties.

Our team had the pleasure of meeting the Isle of Wight Radio staff and seeing first hand the incredible work they do to bring the community together. The generosity of local businesses and residents alike demonstrates the Island's strong spirit of kindness and collaboration.

We’re proud to be part of this heart warming initiative and encourage others to get involved too.

Supporting the Toy Appeal: Looking Ahead to Next Year

The Isle of Wight Radio Toy Appeal has once again brought the community together to support children and families in need, ensuring they experience the magic of Christmas. Although this year’s appeal has now closed (on Sunday, 8th December), its impact will be felt by thousands of children across the Island.

The Toy Appeal is a vital initiative that relies on the generosity of individuals, businesses, and organisations to make Christmas brighter for young carers, children facing illness, and those experiencing hardship.

If you missed the chance to donate this year, we encourage you to keep the Toy Appeal in mind for next Christmas. Together, we can continue to make a difference and spread joy to those who need it most. Stay tuned for updates from Isle of Wight Radio next year on how to get involved!
